ORRF is actively engaged in research, providing companies with access to leading-edge thinking and developments. A number of publicly available papers and articles produced by ORRF are given in the Library. Its paper on insurance as a mitigant for operational risk, submitted to Basel and the EU, won an international excellence award for outstanding research. ORRF has conducted research into thirty leading European banks. It has also conducted Bank Assessments & Ratings (BAR) of approximately forty leading banks in the Middle East. ORRF's investigation into the early-prediction of disasters suggests that in certain cases an organization may be culturally prone to disaster and this may be evidenced by the thickness of the loss-distribution tail. ORRF is actively engaged in research in the area of quantification of operational risk. ORRF encourages collaborative research, working in partnership with universities and industry. It seeks to work closely with research funding bodies such as EPSRC, which has provided assistance in areas such as risk management, fraud detection, software design, and information management as well as providing support for higher level education and training.
